The Bresser Messier Maksutov 100/1400 EQ3 Telescope is an excellent serious beginner's telescope, capable of displaying the Moon and brighter planets extremely well and also giving pleasing performance on the major deep sky objects. The Bresser Messier Maksutov 100/1400 is a long focal ratio (f/14) Maksutov design cassgrain telescope, with a small central obstruction.

In practise, this gives very good contrast performance and intrinsically high power views - just what you need in a planetary telescope. This telescope comes with a red dot LED finder, to help find targets, plus a 1.25" 26mm Bresser Plossl eyepiece and a 1.25" fitting star diagonal, for easily variable viewing. The telescope also has a Bresser Smartphone camera adapter, to help you start your astrophotographic career with your smartphone.

The EQ3 mount is a German Equatorial design and comes with manual slow motion cables for adjusting both RA and Dec axes, which help keep objects firmly in the field of view of the telescope whilst observing. The mount has simple setting circles to give the user a rough idea of celestial bearing. The mount has a quick release dovetail holder for easy mounting and delounting of the telescope, plus an adjustable tripod and accessory tray.
